The Top Five Reasons For Posting In Online Guestbooks

The Top Five Reasons For Posting In Online Guestbooks

 by: Keith P. Stieneke

An online guest book is a log for people to sign and sometimes leave brief messages when they visit someones website.

Possibly youve posted to, or signed one of these guest books at one time when youve visited someones website.

Maybe youve encountered one of these guest books or a link to one and never taken the time to leave a brief introduction or comment about the website. Was it just laziness or didnt you perceive any value in posting to the guest book?

Whatever the reason for not posting or not clicking on the link to the guest book here are five reasons why you should make posting to guestbooks a part of your marketing routine.

1. It will let the owner of the website know that youve shown an interest in the website and it is a polite and courteous method of letting them know you appreciate the website. This reason for posting at a guestbook is simply done as a way to show that you appreciate that the owner of the website set up a guest book for you to sign.

2. You will be making your online presence known as someone interested in whatever topic the website that you are visiting is targeted at. This may cause you to get contacted by some people promoting their business but it will also let people know that you are in business or that you are looking to make contacts in the specific targeted audience. If your targeted audience is composed of writers, then proceed by doing the following. Do a search on Google.com with the words writer site guestbooks. Go to these and post and let people know of your interest in writing, etc. Please do not fall victim to attempts to find software to post for you. The use of such software has made guestbooks less effective than they used to be; however guestbooks still provide one more place for you place your link.

3. People are interested in online communities. The building of an online community is easily accomplished through guestbooks in much the same way it can be accomplished through forums. Where both a guestbook and a forum may be topic oriented it is this writers opinion that a guesbook is more for the purpose of building relationships and introducing yourself. With a forum you can engage in various threaded discussions about many variations on one topic. Letting people know you are out there is easily accomplished by posting at a guest book.

4. Except for reason number one for posting in a guest book all of the reasons here are in some attempt a form of publicity if not advertising. So advertising is reason number four to post in online guest books. Do not however post out right ads to a guestbook as this can get your post easily removed. Some of the more advanced guestbooks allow for a signature file that will either accompany your post or will link to the signature file. Almost all online guest books allow for you to put a link to your URL, and this is what takes us into reason number five which I list here as the 5th most important reason for posting in online guest books.

5. The 5th and most important reason in my opinion to post in online guest books is as follows. On-line guest books are often indexed by the search engines, and therefore can help you by providing more links to your website. Including your URL gives one more place that a link to your website will be found when doing a search on the major search engines.

Yes, publicity can be accomplished by posting in these guest books and it can also help the website owner with knowledge about people visiting his or her website.

Customer Review: Do Not Buy this Drive!

Like others reviewing this product, I too, wanted to like this drive. Do not waste your time and money on this product. I have a MacBook Pro and I do a lot of presentations which requires a lot of storage. I thought this drive would fit my needs because it had a small footprint, complimented by computer and had multiple connections (e.g. USB, Firewire). At first the drive seemed fine, and then it started to hang up. It's flashing light went back and forth like a Cylon eye in Battlestar Gallactica. It just would not connect anymore. I was using a firewire connection. I turned the drive off, rebooted the computer and that did not work. I then switched to the USB connection and that worked for a day or so and then the drive did the same thing again. So I switched back to the firewire connection and after a couple of restarts it worked again.

So now I am thinking I have a defective drive, so I order a replacement (not from Amazon but from the Apple Store where I purchased it. I love Amazon don't get me wrong.) The replacement came and did the same exact thing.

My conclusion is that this drive is not reliable and I am not going to trust my files on this drive. I am on Amazon today to find another solution. Please don't let the looks fool you, beauty is truly on the outside of this one and the inside needs some work!

Customer Review: This could be a great drive

I have the exact same problem as the previous reviewer. The drive hangs up and freezes the Mac (Mini Mac running Leopard); and the Mac is indeed "too stupid" to quit trying. I found that if I leave the computer for a few hours and come back the drive is dead and Timemachine is hung.

It can be jump started by unplugging the firewire cable AND the power cable and putting it back together. This frees up the Mac but the drive does not come back. There may be a better way but it seems I have to re-boot the Mac before the drive is recognized and shows up on the desktop again.

I found a firmware upgrade (because of Leopard) on the Western Digital website that I applied. It now hangs and freezes a little differently but in fact still hangs and freezes.

It looks good and WOULD be a great value if it worked. The bottom line is it doesn't work; so don't waste your time, skip this drive and skip the problems; Mac owners deserve better than this.

It does have Firewire 400 and 800, USB2 and eSATA and I found you could reformat it for the PC... I don't know if you'll have the same problems on the Windoze machines but why try? Just pass it up.

Honda Civic 2001-2004 & CR-V 2002-2004 (Hayne's Automotive Repair Manual)
Honda Civic (2001 - 2004) and CR-V (2002 -2004) Repair Manual

Customer Review: You could do it but still depending on your knowledge

1. The price of this manual is reasonable.

2. Some out-of-date information about procedures and parts.

3. Too technical which is not suitable for car owner (who has little knowledge about car) to do maintenance trouble-free.

4. Car owner could do approximately 25% out of 100% procedures of the whole manual. Please remember it depends on your car knowledge.

5. Haynes publisher do not care to respond their customer's e-mail and phone call for asking more information in the book as they promised to do so.

Customer Review: Haynes Auto Repair Manual

The Repair book tells you all you need to know about the car in an understandable way. Made replacing my head lights a lot easier.

The Land Before Time IV - Journey Through the Mists

The Land Before Time IV - Journey Through the Mists
Littlefoot and the gang meet a shy newcomer, Ali, but the pleasantries stop there. There's a dire environmental theme to this third sequel in the series, in which the world's weather changes beyond the Great Valley, and what had been dry land is now a "land of mists." The shift brings new creatures who push out older inhabitants, and Littlefoot sees these radical changes for himself when he has to venture into the area to find a medicinal flower for his sick grandfather. While the animation is slow and contained the way direct-to-video cartoon releases often are, the story is sound and the now-familiar characters are memorable. --Tom Keogh

Customer Review: Dinos--Spoiler

The animation is still superb. For the most part, the characters are likeable. The major exceptions to this are Cera and Ally. Cera is always pushy and arrogant, no supurise. However, it gets old. Ally seems like a bigot, which sticks to her own. That's not a kid-friendly message. Also, Grampa--the reason I bought this--is hardly in it at all. Plus, he's weak and sick throughout but recovers in 2 seconds, whatever!

Customer Review: A Great Succes! ! ! !

I really like this movie because of the great lesson it teaches, and it is hillarious!! It starts when a herd of "Longnecks" come to the Great Valley to tell of some news of some strange weather changes in different places not far from the Great Valley. The wandering Longnecks call it the,"The Land of Mists." Everybody in the Great Valley is not too upset, I mean, why would there be any reason for them to go to a place like that? Right? WRONG! Littlefoot's Grandpa suddenly becomes ill, and his one and only hope is to eat the petals of a golden flower that grows only in, "The Land of Mists!" So Littlefoot, Ducky,Cera,Petrie,Spike and a new comer Ali journey to "The Mists" to find the petals of the Golden Night flower. But, they are not alone as they are looking for the flower, for deep in the shadows, lurks two pesky villains, looking for something to eat....... So, if you are wondering what's going to happen, get the movie!!

Remember Me?

Remember Me?
With the same wicked humor and delicious charm that have won her millions of devoted fans, Sophie Kinsella, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Shopaholic & Baby, returns with an irresistible new novel and a fresh new heroine who finds herself in a life-changing and utterly hilarious predicament….

When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

Customer Review: Just so-so

I liked the first half but it went downhill after that. I thought most of the characters were just not likeable, from the dad to the mom, husband, ex boyfriend, friends, coworkers, her lover, the sister. What role did she really play? I had such high hopes for this book but found I didn't care what happened to any of them. Then I find out the main character is having an affair? YUK! I really liked Can You Keep a Secret! This Remember Me is forgettable.

Customer Review: Just about loved it....

Lexie isn't quite as lovable as Becky Bloomwood and I agree the story line isn't as original as the Shopaholic series (my favorite!) But still a great read. There are some great characters and wait till you find out what "MontBlanc" really is! I highly recommend this for a perfect summer beach book.
