Using Scrapbooks in Doctors' Offices
There are so many specialty doctors that could benefit from using scrapbooks. I remember when my mom had surgery on her neck. She wanted to know where the incision would be made, what the scar would like and wanted to understand the actual procedure. How nice it would have been if the doctor had used a scrapbook of real photos to show her what she could expect.
I remember when my dad had surgery; it was a long complicated procedure. The doctor did try to explain, however a scrapbook of the step by step procedure would?ve been incredibly helpful. His recovery was estimated to be about six months. Again, photos showing the progress he should see over that six month period would have been wonderful.
Plastic surgeons often have photos that show the procedures they perform. They can usually show patients before and after photos of other patients who have had the same procedures. Orthodontists and oral surgeons have long been showing photos of real people to help show their current patient exactly what one can expect from the corrective procedures.
When we were visiting a dermatologist, we saw a lot of photos, photos of real people that had been put together in a photo album. What were lacking were the words. The difference between a photo album and a scrapbook are the words, the journaling; the actual story. Having a few sentences of what medication or what procedure led to the after pictures would have been wonderful.
I can see a benefit to cardiologists having a scrapbook that shows the many procedures they perform and helping patients understand exactly what they can expect. I can see podiatrists using a scrapbook to show before and after photos to those facing foot surgery.
The unknown is what causes many patients to experience fear. They just don?t know exactly what to expect. Many procedures today are performed as outpatient, as they are common ?simple? procedures, but as a patient there is still the element of the unknown.
Next time you meet with your doctor, offer the suggestion of a scrapbook to help ease some of the fear patients feel when preparing for a medical procedure.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets [Blu-ray]
National Treasure: Book of Secrets [Blu-ray]
Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) sets out to find the lost 18 pages from the diary of Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth. One of the 18 missing pages has been discovered by Jeb Wilkinson (Ed Harris). On that page are the names of the Lincoln assassination conspirators. Thomas Gates, Ben Gates' great-great-grandfather, is listed on the page. After discovering this, Ben does not want Thomas Gates to be remembered "as a conspirator in the assassination of the man who brought this nation together." His quest to clear his family's name leads to unexpected twists and turns. Agent Sadusky (Harvey Keitel) tells Ben that a secret book has the information he needs. The president's "book of secrets" holds documents, for presidents' eyes only, of all the nations secrets; from the truth behind the JFK conspiracy, the missing minutes from the Watergate tapes, and Area 51. When Ben's request to see the book is denied, he says he must kidnap the president. Each clue leads him closer "to a discovery that the world isn't ready to believe."
Customer Review: Still Fun, But Not as Exciting
While delivering a presentation about his great-grandfather, Thomas Gates (Joel Gretsch) and his relationship to John Wilkes Booth and attempt to stop the assassination of President Lincoln, Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) is challenged by a man, Mitch Wilkinson (Ed Harris), who claims to have a missing page from John Wilkes Booth's diary that suggests that Thomas Gates was actually one of the ring-leaders of Lincoln's assassination. In an attempt to prove his great-grandfather's innocence, Ben, Abigail (Diane Kruger), and Riley (Justin Bartha) begain a globetrotting adventure that takes them from Buckingham Palace to the Oval Office in the White House. Their journey ultimately leads Ben to "kidnapping" the President of the United States (Bruce Greenwood) and a perilous journey inside Mount Rushmore.
NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS is a fairly average action-adventure movie. Like the original movie, BOOK OF SECRETS boasts a decent mixture of actual history with tons of conspiracy theories to bolster an otherwise lackluster plot. However, there really isn't as much action as there was in the first movie. Things have been watered down, including the "villain", Mitch Wilkinson (Ed Harris). Harris' talents (as well as those of Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, and Helen Mirren) are completely wasted in the movie, but so is his character. Wilkinson is intended to be an evil foil to Benjamin Gates, but instead by the end of the movie comes off as being a completely sympathetic person that was just trying to clear his family's name just like Ben is doing.
The strongest thing about the movie is the characters. It is true that Benjamin Gates and Riley Poole and the rest of the cast are basically cardboard figures. However, they are cardboard characters that the audience actually cares about, even without ever having seen NATIONAL TREASURE. Abigail is beautiful and throughout the movie the audience roots that the adventure will bring her and Ben back together; Riley Poole is adorable and the audience keeps hoping he will end up with a fraction of the success that Ben has; etc.
Overall, though NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS isn't a great action-adventure movie and at times struggles to build excitement, it is a decent yarn involving some lovable characters.
Customer Review: Great movie!
National Treasure 2 is one of my favorite movies. It has a perfect balance of action, story, and humor. I also really like all the historical details that were added in.
The only thing I didn't like about it (and this is a very minor flaw to the movie) is that Ben Gates extols Abraham Lincoln, calling him one of his favorite presidents. I am NOT racist by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't think the "Civil" war was fought solely over the issue of slavery. I think history shows us that Lincoln had an agenda to bring about a highly-centralized form of government that few of our founding fathers had. (On this topic, I would recommend "The War between the States: America's Uncivil War.) You can leave a comment on this review if you disagree with me and I'll try to answer your objections to the best of my ability.
Despite this, I give this movie five stars. I think this movie is comparable with the first National Treasure (see my review on that movie for more details).

Customer Review: Life's a Beach ...George!!
This book and Curious George himself takes me back to a gentler time. A time when I was young and a time when my son was young. He and I LOVE to read all about George's silly mishaps daily.
This book was an automatic favorite because we live in Rhode Island and live at the beach in the summer. So he would always take this book and his george doll down in his bag. These stories are filled with laughter and love, two things a child can't get enough of and there is usually even a good manners lesson taught to George too that they don't soon forget.
So, any of the Curious George series is a winner with our family...and we don't even live near the "man with the yellow hat". lol*
Have fun and make each night a night you read to your child...it's so important. I even read to him in the womb each night. He talked early and certainly knew my voice almost immediately.
A winner any way you look at it. : ) Thank you George.

Toyota Land Cruiser, 1968-1982 (Haynes Manuals)
Land Cruiser Series FJ40 FJ43 FJ45 and FJ55 (68 - 82) Haynes offers the best coverage for cars trucks vans and SUVs in the market today. Each manual is written and photographed from "hands-on" experience gained by a complete teardown and rebuild of the vehicle. The first Haynes manual was written this way 40 years ago and all the manuals continue to be produced this way making Haynes the world leader in automotive repair information.
Customer Review: Helpful for your avrage, but could give more technical info.
I found the Hains to be helpful in the basic needs of a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 owner, but if you are looking for a book that will give more indepth information, such as restoration jobs, I do not recomend this book. For example this books digrams and schematics are much to be desired and blurry at best.In addition, job descriptions are sometimes missing key steps. Check it for your self before you by it!!!
Customer Review: A must have for 40-Series Owners
I find that this book is often the the book that I want to go to first for information about servicing Land Cruisers. The Original Toyota manuals are more thorough but they are not organized in a fashion that I like as much as this book by Haynes. This book has a very good collection of wiring schematics for vehicles produced between 1968 and 1982. Torque specifications are liberally included throughout the book and I feel that most of the critical torque settings are included. The cutaway drawing on the cover is of a 1975ish vintage FJ40 and is very well executed. This book is much more thorough than the Haynes manual for the 60-series and 80-series Land Cruisers. Forexample the 60/80-series Haynes book basically says about the gearboxes that you should take them to a mechanic for servicing. This book covers servicing all parts of the drivetrain. The unfortunate things about this book are: 1. it covers only the F and 2F petrol engines and does not cover any of the diesel engines 2. it does not cover any of the pre-1968 Land Cruiser models: some of which are very interesting and most of which are very difficult to obtain good service documentation about. This book is well worth owning and I think that it is a better Service Manual than most of the other books about Land Cruisers of this vintage.

Customer Review: Good summary but missing specific details
Overall this book was a great review and summary of some of the information covered on the 70-297 vendor exam. However, it was missing some specific details about material that was covered on the vendor exam. The case studies did a great job of preparing you for the type of format you will see on the exam but the content was not nearly as in-depth or challenging as on the vendor exam. IF you are looking for the quintessential book to prepare for the vendor exam, this is not it. However, as a review of major concepts it is right on.

Customer Review: an excellent guide for consumer
This is an excellent guide for the consumers to choose quality supplements. It gives ratings (1 to 5 stars) to more than 1500 multivitamins in North America. Supplements from Kroger, Walgrees and costco, etc get a very low score of their products. I'm suprised. I highly recommend this book to someone who is taking supplements or considering taking supplements.
